Check out this beautiful vintage 1960s inspired fitted, sexy, yet classy dressmaking pattern by London’s Sew Over It!
Created for the intermediate sewist with experience inserting an invisible zip and attaching sleeves, the Joan Dress sewing pattern offers a fitted bodice and skirt that gives the dress a sassy, feminine feel. The bodice is fitted with darts at the waist and back shoulder, and features a gently scooped neckline. Stylish ¾ length sleeves and a 60s inspired tie collar give the dress a super elegant feel. Designed to hit below the knee, the skirt is semi-fitted with darts and sports a kick pleat at the back hem. The whole dress is fully lined, giving you a gorgeously professional-feeling finish.

Sew Over It is the brainchild of lovely Londoner Lisa Comfort. She has been sewing since age 11 and studied at the London College of Fashion. Talented Lisa also is the author of 2 fantastic sewing books. In order to spread her passion for sewing and hoping to inspire people to take up the craft, she started Sew Over It in 2011. Lisa and her team offer a variety of brilliant sewing classes for all sewing levels in their London shops in Clapham and Islington.
Your Joan Dress Shopping List:
1.15 metres wide = 3.6 metres for sizes 8 to 14 or 3.7 metres for sizes 16 to 20
1.40 metres wide = 2.5 metres for sizes 8 to 14 or 3.2 metres for sizes 16 to 20.
You will also need 0.6 metres of lining fabric less than the amount of your main fabric.
For example, if you are sewing a size 12 dress using 1.15 metre wide fabric, you will need 3.6 metres of your main fabric and 3 metres of lining fabric.
