Sew Liberated Flora Tunic and Twirly Skirt Pattern
Create this gorgeous skirt and tunic combo for your favourite little ones! Sew Liberated has put together this lovely duo for those kids who like their play clothes to look a bit dressy! Just how dressy will depend on your fabric choices. Absolutely adorable! Love the detail of the pleat at the neckline on the tunic and the double layer effect on the skirt! Make one for each season!
The pattern comes in sizes 2 toddler to chidlren’s size 10. So you can make several for siblings! Go for it all you intermediate and advanced beginner sewists!
Sew Liberated recommends lightweight cotton or linen fabric such as cotton lawn or double gauze with a nice drape for the tunic. They recommend heavier weight cotton such as twill or home decor weight prints for the main skirt and mid weight cotton or linen for the skirt contrast. Quilters cotton works fine.

Is it wrong for us to be envious that this pattern only comes in children’s sizes? We love this Sew Liberated design! The pleat detail on the tunic and two layered skirt make this too cute for words! This outfit can be made to look casual or dressy depending on your fabric choice. Why not make two to cover all occasions?
Started in 2007 Sew Liberated is headed by American author, excellent blogger, sewist, teacher, mum and designer Meg McElwee who along with her husband and small, but talented team, has created patterns seeded in the ethos that handmade is the means for liberating yourself. Liberate yourself from what exactly? Liberate yourself from conforming to consumer culture by using traditional means to make something completely unique and modern. She celebrates the joy of the handmade!
Meg calls her style ‘rustic chic’ for those who adore natural designs and fabrics. She loves the satisfaction one gets from making things for yourself – sounds like a true believer in the ‘I Made That’ pride movement, right fellow Thread Heads?!
If you want to sell your creations, you will need to request this directly from Sew Liberated. They are all about independent ‘craftivists’ and will allow stay-at-home-moms, students, artists, etc., to sell items made with their patterns, but you need to ask them first!
