Started in 2007 Sew Liberated is headed by American author, excellent blogger, sewist, teacher, mum and designer Meg McElwee who along with her husband and small, but talented team, has created patterns seeded in the ethos that handmade is the means for liberating yourself.  Liberate yourself from what exactly?  Liberate yourself from conforming to consumer culture by using traditional means to make something completely unique and modern. She celebrates the joy of the handmade!

Meg calls her style ‘rustic chic’ for those who adore natural designs and fabrics.  She loves the satisfaction one gets from making things for yourself – sounds like a true believer in the ‘I Made That’ pride movement, right fellow Thread Heads?!

If you want to sell your creations, you will need to request this directly from Sew Liberated.  They are all about independent ‘craftivists’ and will allow stay-at-home-moms, students, artists, etc., to sell items made with their patterns, but you need to ask them first!

Your Woodlands Shirt pattern shopping list:

• Sizes 2T to 4T:  1 yard (0.9 metre) of lightweight cotton on linen fabric with nice drape.
• Sizes 5 to 10:  1 and 1/3 yard (1.3 metres) of lightweight cotton or linen fabric with nice drape.
• Optional embroidery thread in various colours for optional pocket embroidery detail
• a hand sewing needle
• 2 sew on snaps
• tracing paper
• fabric marker
• various buttons less than 12 inch (1.3cm) in diameter
• if your fabric is dark or opaque, you’ll need wax tracing paper for transferring the embroidery design onto the shirt pocket
