Well Hello Dolly! Introducing a Learn to Sew Sew-Along for Children with Blogger Sew Angelic Threads

Thread Head Fabrics Sew Angelic Threads

We at Thread Head Fabrics are so thrilled to team up with lovely blogger Sew Angelic Threads and Jaycotts sewing and haberdashery superstore to offer adorable fabric bundles as part of SewAngelicThreads new blog for teaching children how to sew.  If your little one – or not so little one – wants to become one of her sewing cadets and learn some wonderful dressmaking skills from stylish and talented Angela, then come follow her wonderful blog here!

Using an 18-inch doll as a dress form and two patterns for creating a whole wardrobe of doll’s clothes, your child can learn how to read a pattern, how to adjust a pattern, how to use a dress form to get the perfect fit and so much more.  Talented sewist Angela explains things clearly, simply and with encouragement at every step of the way!

Maybe you’d like to learn to improve your dressmaking skills, too?  There’s nothing stopping the grown-ups from taking part, too!  Oh, and if you don’t have access to a sewing machine, Angela will be teaching some awesome hand sewing skills.  So truly anyone can take part in her sew-along.

Jaycotts is offering a wonderful sewing box and also the patterns Angela will be using in the sew-along.   All you need to get started with sewing is all neat and tidy in a handy storage box.  Order your sewing box from them here.  Angela’s sewing patterns for the sew-along are sold at Jaycotts, too, and are available here and here.

Is your child the next Jean Paul Gaultier or Coco Chanel?  You never know!  Get them started with Angela’s blog and watch their sewing skills grow!

And what does Thread Head Fabrics have to do with all of this?  You know it’s just got to be about the fabric!

We’ve put together a selection of seven ‘long quarter’ bundles featuring some of our most popular quilting fabric for the sew-along, one of which we just know will be perfect for your child!

Each bundle contains 6 long quarters of 100% quality cotton fabric from such manufacturers as Michael Miller Fabrics, Makower UK, Red Rooster, Andover Fabrics, P&B Textiles, and organic cotton indie designers, Saffron Craig and Daisy Janie.  Quilting fabric makes great dressmaking fabric, particularly for a newbie as the cotton is easy to work with.  The fabrics are 25cm long and cut across the width of the fabric (approximately 112cm).   These prints feature doll-sized patterns so the clothes created will look really lovely on your child’s doll.

Each bundle has been put together to appeal to children with different interests.  Why not have a look with your child and select the bundle that ‘speaks’ to them!

Spoiled for choice?  Select the Pick – a – Mix bundle and choose any 3 prints, 2 solids and a white from any of the bundles so you can sew along with Angela.

All bundles are offered at £15 each plus standard shipping.  Fabric bundles are subject to availability.  An appropriate substitute may need to be included.  Each bundle will contain a selection of, but not all of, the above mentioned manufacturers and designers.  Please see the individual bundle listings for complete details of which fabric is included.

You might be wondering how best to choose your bundle?  Ask your child how they imagine the doll whose clothes they will be creating.  Then have a glance at the choices below and click on the links to order your  bundle.

Hi there Joanne! We’re really pleased to be working with Sew Angelic Threads on this sew-along for kids! It’s a great way for children to learn a useful skill that can stay with them for a lifetime, especially for children whose parents don’t know how to sew. The parent and child could learn together!
