Trend Alert! Floral Prints are All the Rage This Year!

Floral fabrics are on trend this year

Floral fabric is bang on trend and this lovely style is one you really should add to your next dressmaking project!  Have a look at the recent runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris and you’re bound to see florals on the runway.  London-based, Canadian born designer Erdem Moralioglu, a favourite of both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, is putting a focus on floral prints in his Fall/Winter 2018 collection.

Ted Baker is another London-based designer who is also putting the focus on florals this year with feminine floral prints for both casual day wear and more glamourous evening wear.

Florals are feminine but not necessary meek.  We love them!  Try a bold, modern sewing pattern with a floral print and you could create something very couture for your wardrobe!

We’ve seen designers mixing floral bodices with lace sleeves, and floral skits with solid bodices.  And one look we particularly love comes again from Erdem, where he uses florals with checks and solids to make stunning, modern patchwork designs.  Why not have a look at his amazing designs and dream up some similar versions for yourself?

Check out the floral prints in our lovely collection and stitch up a floral design that won’t break the bank!  Why not team it up with one of our popular Sew Over It sewing patterns to create something truly special.

We would just love to see what you dream up with one of our beautiful florals!  Remember share a pic to be featured in our newsletter or blog post and be in the running for a giveaway drawing!  Sharing your pics helps to inspire others to have a go at something that perhaps they didn’t have the confidence to try before.  The Thread Head sewing community has always been a fabulous group of peeps with generous spirits to share tips and ideas, so let’s see what you make!

As always,

Happy Sewing!
